Episode 9 - Monster Play: LotRO PVP

June 10th, 2007

In Episode 9 of Weathertop Radio, I talk about latest game news, in-game events, and fansite announcements. The main topic is an introduction to Monster Play which is the player versus player (PVP) system within Lord of the Rings Online. This system offers some unique features that allow even a casual gamer to take part (and have fun!) in a PVP environment.

  1. I like the idea of radio for the game, its a nice thing to listen to when your at work.

But please dude, put some emotion into it, you sound extremely monotone and I’m sorry to say, it’s quite boring to listen to.

I’ll be checking in regularly to see if things change though, cause I like the idea, but seriously, your human, act human! No one wants to hear a computer talk.

  2. A bit harsh?…perhaps. But feedback is feedback, so I thank you for that anyway. Do keep checking back as I hope to continue to improve.

I find that doing this solo can be difficult since I don’t usually sit in a room and talk to myself. This is the first podcast I’ve done, so every week I still tweak the process a bit to try to find what works best.

If anyone else has suggestions to improve the show, please feel free to send them along. I’m already kicking around the idea of a co-host and/or changing the time of day I record, etc. Keep that feedback coming!

  3. I would suggest getting 1 or 2 guest players from each server for each episode. There were FFXI podcasts I used to listen to back when I played that game, and the podcast’s multiple hosts in each episode would invite “regular” players to participate. The interactions with various players in each podcast resulted in much variety from show to show.

If invited to participate in your podcasts, the people from each LOTRO server can (respectfuly) talk about their server and the characters they play, their adventures in-game, etc. It’s just a suggestion. :) It was one of the main aspects of the FFXI podcasts that I enjoyed the most.

  4. Thank you for sharing!
